This piece is pencil drawn, then photocopied and filled in using color pencil.
This piece won first place in the "Giuseppe Arcimboldo art contest" at the 2003 Platt Gala. Aside from winning the $150 grand prize, working on this was its own reward:
At first I thought okay, no problem I will just make a face out of fruit shapes like one of Arcimboldo's most famous peices. As I started sketching I noticed that not only was this style of art difficult to create,
it was also much like a puzzle. I can remember while I was creating the weapon woman how many times I would just get suck for a few days, not knowing how to make the shapes needle to define her body parts. I did come up with
some interesting solutions, my favorite being her swiss armies fingers. Allot of people like the barbed wire hair as well.
